These photos were taken of a football in my backyard, during the afternoon. My brother played football in high school and college, and it reminded me of going to his games late at night in Milan and Wheaton. The first photo, called Finished, was taken on the grass, against our cement porch. I wanted to make the blades of grass stand out in front of the ball, as well as make the football shape definite against the porch. I named the photo Finished because my brother has finished his college football career and now doesn't play anymore. The second photo was taken on my porch, and the angle was face-up. A filter was also added to the photograph, named Tackle.
These photos were taken of my soccer cleats in my backyard. My older sister's friend wore these, then my older sister, then my other sister. Now I wear the passed down cleats, so they have a lot of meaning to me. I have played soccer since before kindergarten and am currently on the school team. I couldn't imagine my life without the sport because I have played it for so long. When taking the image, Dream, I wanted to only focus on the cleats and blur the background, above the grass. In the image, Used, I applied a filter to make the image look slightly unclear.
I took these images of a rose, one called Bounded, and the other called Gentle Thorns. In the first photo, I wanted to highlight the lighter petals spiraling into a darker center. In the second photo, a filter was applied to make the flower look softer. Both images were taken on a brown, textured cutting board to give a plain background to the object. This rose represents how I love the outdoors. I also just love the way they look.
These photos were taken of chocolate chips on a cutting board. The photos represent how my family and I used to always make chocolate chip cookies together; I'd always eat all the dough before they were baked. Chips is taken landscape, with a filter applied to make the image grainy, yet still allowing the object to be visible. Sweet is an up close image of the chocolate chips lined up, vertically. I love the way you can see the texture on the cutting board, as well as the definite shape of each chip.
I took these photos of a shell I collected from California. The first is named Along Shore and the second is named Placentia, CA. We go there every summer to see my dad's side of the family and this object helps me to remember the ocean there. I love going to the crowded, hot beaches, then diving under the waves to cool down. In this picture, I wanted to outline the details of the shell, as well as the features of sand/rocks or dark wood.
