These two pictures are taken of my friend Sam. I've know her for years now, and still remember when we met in first grade. We don't go to the same school now, and I don't see her that often. So when we are together, we continue to make memories; which contributed to the title of the second photo. This photo was set up in front of an old, dark brown fence, which shows contrast against her green shirt and lighter skin. In my backyard, this fence has been there for years and now has a slight greenish tint to it, which complements her green shirt. I lowered the brightness of this photo and increased the contrast slightly. The saturation was also turned down to take the red hue out of her face. Some challenges I came across was finding the right angle of light, to where her face wasn't blending in with the background, but also not completely washed out. Although, I did capture a very clear image of her face that stands out against the plain fence. The first photo is called Wishful because she appears laughing and has a hopeful look on her face, as she looks to the side of the camera. On this photo, the brightness was turned up and the levels setting was adjusted to fix the blotches of uneven light, creating the same general shade of color on her face. There is movement that takes place at the ends of her hair, but the main focus is on her. This photo was also taken in my backyard, this time against a play structure. This created contrast as well, of her light skin against the brown wood, although the photo was turned black and white. A struggle of capturing this image was not getting a blurred face while she was laughing. Also, I now realize the bolt on the play structure is a little distracting from her face. Yet, the light hits her face at a good angle, and nothing is too dark. In conclusion these two pictures capture Sam's personality well: happy.
